Coffee, The Economy and Your Happieness

I was having a conversation the other day about how we are all stretching our dollar a bit more with the economic instability we are currently having. Everything is costing more. Yes, we understand that everything is costing more but I think it’s more than just a monetary impact we’re all facing. This is impacting our well-being, moods, level of stress, relationships and so much more. I know it’s impacting me in all those areas. When heavy stuff like this happens, I take a second and remind myself that so many things are temporary as we move through life. This change we’re experiencing is temporary though it may take years for it to correct itself.

So, what’s all that have to do with coffee? When we drink coffee, most of us are seeking some type of response - like more energy or a better mood. The good majority of our customers actually want it to taste good as well. Through hard work and dedication, the coffee we roast both tastes good and does its job. As a result, Fig Leaf coffee does its job and makes you happy.

We can now all agree that Fig Leaf coffee makes us happy. Now comes the tough part in our economic crisis. What happens when you decide to save $5.00 a week and switch back to that grocery store stuff? (Remember, that’s the coffee that’s been sitting around for months and doesn’t have a “roasted on” date but a “best by” date.) I can almost guarantee that you’re not going to be happy with this change. This switch causes an unhappy coffee drinker. This switch will likely also cause an angry belly and we can all remember what the other stuff tastes like too (insert your favorite adult word here).

Now what do you do? Either way you’re buying coffee from someplace. If that extra $5 per week is the difference between you eating dinner or not, save the money and eat dinner. If you can save $5 by not getting double sausage on your pizza, do it. Remember, your coffee is a very important part of your life and daily routine. Also, Fig Leaf will only survive if you continue shopping with us. When too many people decide to go with the bargain option from the big box store, we can’t continue running our business.

If you are one of the many customers that already cuts corners to support us, THANK YOU! We are so very lucky to have you as part of our coffee community. Thanks so much for reading and we hope to see you soon.

Brewing the best cup of coffee is very subjective. Some people like it strong, some like it with cream, some like it with sugar and bourbon. It’s simply the way you like it. There is however, an ideal way of brewing coffee.
